So like, uh. My Macbook Pro usually runs hot, not too surprising.
It just caught on fire while I was using it.
Nothing got damaged except for the computer’s internals, but jesus fuck.
I want to bring it to an Apple store and be all, “Yo, this is the fuckng shit I get for 2k?”
But nah. They’ll just be all, “LOL YOUR APPLECARE EXPIRED TWO YEARS AGO. BUY A NEW ONE PEASANT.”
I’m going to replace it with an Asus netbook. At least it’ll, y’know, work.
I mean…aside from the ones that are built for the military and have the gigantic titanium cases and weigh about 20 lbs., I can’t think of a laptop that has a lifetime warranty, and I’m not even positive those do. If your warranty expires on any brand, they’re going to either make you buy a new one or charge out the nose.
It’s not like if you own the Asus for three years, and it catches on fire, and you take it to Best Buy, they’re going to go “Oh, sorry, here’s a new one at a discount.” You’re going to get the exact same “Your warranty is up, not our problem.” thing that you got from Apple.
That’s not an Apple thing, that’s a technology thing. I don’t defend Apple normally because, while I like their products, they make a lot of crappy ones and crappy decisions that I think are, well, crappy, so I understand a lot of the gripes, but telling someone who has had a warranty expired for years that they’re going to have to either buy a new one or pay an exorbitant repair cost is in no way, shape, or form something unreasonable that’s exclusive to Apple.
TL;DR They charge too much for an inferior product, and for something boutique/designer (Apple IS technically an electronics boutique) they should offer extended support for their overpriced fashion items.
My wallet from Coach was 120 dollars. Yeah, that’s a lot for a wallet. It has a lifetime warranty, and they’ll replace it even if you damage it yourself. Coach is actually really awesome about their warranty. (I’ve used it before.)
If Macbooks were $500, sure, I understand the disposable mentality.
When they’re $2000… Nope. I don’t expect a lifetime warranty on an electronic, but it should cover at least 10 years as far as my (not important at all) opinion goes. Who can afford 2k every 3 years?
My bigger problem with Apple is that I’ve owned 8 of their products. Out of the 8? Six managed to self-destruct from normal use.
Cosmetically they look brand new.
Granted, I wouldn’t expect them to cover hard drive failure, or physical damage/abuse over the course of ten years… However, if the capacitors on the motherboard cause the device to fry, that should be covered. Same goes for if the screen dies. Smoke and fire is not a normal failure.
Especially when this is from the result of a well known manufacturer defect that Apple refuses to acknowledge. A google search shows that this has happened to many people. (The 2008 unibody macbooks were shipped with faulty batteries and motherboards. Apple doesn’t give a fuck.)
Never mind they charge 500 for the screen, and 800 for the motherboard out of warranty. (Oh, my apologies, I forgot how pompous Apple is. Logic board.)
What exactly are you getting for the premium price? It’s not a premium experience.
Brands like Asus could give me a no-year warranty because their prices actually reflect the device’s value. Apple’s prices do not. They reflect the prices of what should be considered boutique, yet they get away with selling sub-par junk to consumers.
There are very, very, very few things that actually make me angry. Apple is one of them.
Wasn’t sure if I should reblog, but I don’t disagree with any single point made here.
Do not associate with tumblr user simply-suburban, do not endorse him or his art. He just sent an email to my mother about my online activity, with quotes/and or screenshots (unsure) outing me as non-binary to my hostile family.
He’s also misgendered me, and are friends with someone who violently and purposefully misgendered me with a gross amount of ableism. Destiny also refused to stop using transmisogynistic language (on skype, no receipts).
I now have to be openly out as agender because of him, and if you want to be safe, I recommend blocking him.
also he has statcounter so be wary visting their blog
